F.A.Q. Everything you need to know about staying at Kamara cave suites : The Collection & Guest Guide

What is the history of the collection at Kamara Cave Suites?

Our property is steeped in history. The spaces were originally carved and used by localsas traditional dwellings and storage. In fact, several of our suites werehistorically used in ancient Greek times for the production and storage of local wine. When you stay here, you aren't just in a hotel; you are sleeping within the living history of Milos.

What materials were used in the construction of the cave suites?

To honor the island's heritage, we used a "bioclimatic" restoration process. The interiors feature stunning white stone walls characteristic of the Cyclades, paired with local woods sourced directly from the island of Milos. This combination of natural stone and indigenous wood creates a breathable, eco-friendly environment that stays naturally cool without high energy consumption.

Why choose a cave suite over a standard hotel room in Milos?

A cave suite offers a thermal and acoustic experience you can't find in modern construction. Because our suites are carved into the earth, they offer natural soundproofing and a "grounded" feel. By preserving the original ancient wine-storage layouts, we provide a sense of space and history that connects you to the authentic soul of the Aegean.

Our Location in Pera Triovasalos

We are situated in the traditional village of Pera Triovasalos, offering a level of privacy and quiet that is difficult to find in the more commercial hubs of Adamas or Pollonia. It is a residential neighborhood where the pace of life remains slow. Despite the secluded atmosphere, the village center is within walking distance, featuring authentic local bakeries and traditional tavernas that serve the community year-round.

Proximity to Sarakiniko Beach

Kamara Cave Suites is one of the closest high-end accommodations to the famous Sarakiniko Beach. The drive to the white volcanic cliffs takes approximately 5 minutes (2.5km). This proximity allows our guests to experience the landscape at dawn or dusk, avoiding the peak hours of midday tourism.

Essential Services & Connectivity

For your convenience, several supermarkets and essential shops are within walking distance of the house. While the village center is easily accessible by foot, we recommend a car or ATV rental to fully explore the island’s diverse coastline. Free public parking is available close to the house for all guests.

Arrival and Island Exploration

Our central location on the island serves as a strategic base. While you enjoy the silence of a traditional village at night, you are less than a 10-minute drive from the port of Adamas. The Milos airport is about a 15 minute car drive. This balance of accessibility and quiet makes Kamara an ideal choice for those seeking a sophisticated, understated retreat.

Which beaches are closest to Kamara Cave Suites?

Our central position makes it easy to reach the most iconic coastlines on the north side of the island:

  • Sarakiniko Beach: The famous lunar landscape is just a 5-minute drive away.

  • Mandrakia: A nearby traditional fishing village known for its colorful boat garages (syrmata) and excellent seaside dining.

  • Firopotamos & Plathiena: Both of these stunning, turquoise-water beaches are within a 10 minute drive, offering some of the most scenic swimming spots on the island.

Are there nearby villages for dining and nightlife?

Yes, we are perfectly positioned between tradition and local culture:

  • Plaka: Only a few minutes away by car, the island's capital is famous for its sunset views, vibrant nightlife, and sophisticated bars.

  • Trypiti: Just adjacent to Plaka, Trypiti offers a range of high-quality restaurants set against a backdrop of traditional windmills and historic churches. Staying at Kamara allows you to enjoy the energy of these villages in the evening and return to the total silence of our cave suites at night.

Is a car or Atv rental recommended?

While the local shops and bakeries of Triovasalos are accessible by foot, we highly recommend a car or ATV to explore the diversity of Milos.
